A Cluster of Grapes

A Story of Perseverance and Innovation in Agriculture

Embracing Entrepreneurship

Although she had worked as a field researcher, Safaa wanted to embrace new challenges and focus on entrepreneurship. The turning point arrived when she and her husband decided to invest their savings in a project that would be profitable and impactful in their community. With access to a piece of land in Tammoun, they envisioned an agricultural venture focused on seedless grape cultivation.

Project Vision: A Cluster of Grapes

Their project, “A Cluster of Grapes,” aimed to excel in grape and paper production by producing high-quality local products and contributing to ecotourism in the West Bank. Safaa emphasized their commitment to values of honesty, integrity, respect, and excellence.

Overcoming Challenges

Safaa and her husband faced numerous challenges, including the lack of protective infrastructure, essential equipment, and a delivery vehicle. They also dealt with competition from Israeli settlement products, weather issues, diseases, weeds, and high water prices.

WED Project Involvement

Safaa registered for the WED Project at a crucial point. The extensive training in technical and practical skills she received was life-changing, teaching her perseverance, determination, and responsibility. She learned about Financial Management and Digital Marketing, and the WED program helped her create a comprehensive business plan to strategically guide her business.

Current and Future Plans

Safaa is expanding her project by planting additional land and addressing business weaknesses with seed funding from the WED program. Her confidence in the business grows with the increasing demand for grapes.

Building Relationships and Networking

The relationships and networking opportunities provided by WED were instrumental. Safaa connected with other female entrepreneurs, sparking new ideas like converting sour grapes into sumac or adding a raisin production line.

Symbol of Empowerment

Safaa’s project symbolizes empowerment, determination, and the spirit of women entrepreneurs. It represents hope in her community, driven by knowledge, determination, and a supportive network. As Safaa describes it, “The grapes of success are sweet, and they continue to ripen with every passing season thanks to the transformative power of the WED program.”

Through the program, I found the support and inspiration to create a thriving business.
